REMARK  
METHOD   The prediction is based on a folding recognition methodology which 
METHOD  assigns automatically amino acid sequences to families and supermalies
METHOD  as defined in the SCOP project [1]. 
METHOD  Sequence similarity analysis (leading to fold similarity) is performed
METHOD  by means of a fourier transform of the profile of characteristics 
METHOD  of the amino acids constituting the sequence [2].
METHOD   In our  system each family and superfamily is characterized by a set
METHOD  of dominant characteristics  (among the set of 402  properties for
METHOD  every amino acid as recorded in [3]). Once the superfamily is 
METHOD  recognized, the  target is  compared to each member belonging to
METHOD  that superfamily, again with the similarity based on the spectral 
METHOD  analysis of the dominant features for that particular superfamily. 
METHOD  Members ranking highest in spectral similarity and with a
METHOD  number of amino acids closest to the target are selected as the most
METHOD  plausible folding candidates for the target. Superimposing  the amino
METHOD  acids constituting the target over the backbone of the identified folds
METHOD  is performed by means of a genetic algorithm that adds or substracts 
METHOD  pieces ( when the identified backbone contains less or more amino 
METHOD  acids than the target respectively) of backbone  randomly so as to 
METHOD  have the target keep the similarity with the identified structure at
METHOD  the spectral and tertiary structure levels[2].
