METHOD Prediction methods used are similar to what we described  
METHOD in our prediction for T0074: Prosite motif match & profile- 
METHOD like threading onto candidate structures, but with special 
METHOD emphasis on positions predicted, or known, to play crucial 
METHOD structural roles. We have disregarded the findings by 
METHOD Brunelle and Schleif (JMB 1989)who found evidence against two HTH- 
METHOD modules because their mutants were based on a faulty 
METHOD pairwise alignment. Our model is unrefined and includes 
METHOD 2 fragments modeled onto the HTH-motifs as found in the phage  
METHOD repressor proteins.  
METHOD We have NOT fragmented the chain because the orientation 
METHOD of the two modules is, very approximately, illustrating 
METHOD our tentative prediction of the space between the recognition  
METHOD 4-base motifs (predicted following Suzuki,Yagi, and Gerstein, 
METHOD Prot.Eng.(1995) 8:329-338): 3 or 4 AT base pairs seem most 
METHOD likely to separate the two modules... very, very tentatively, 
METHOD we would, therefore, argue for an inverted repeat fitting 
METHOD into the predicted recognition site. However, many important
