METHOD   blastp was used to find homologous sequences of which a multiple   
METHOD   sequences alignment was build and used as seed for HMMer. The 
METHOD   resulting hmm was used to search against a version of pdb which 
METHOD   only contains proteins of less than 90% homology. No significant 
METHOD   hits were found during this procedure. 
METHOD   A specifically developed neural network scored all alignments on 
METHOD   basis of their secondary structure overlap. None of the alignments 
METHOD   achieved good scores and the top ten scores showed random folds. 
METHOD   Consequently the sequence was split into two overlapping parts 
METHOD   which were then run through the procedure individually. 
METHOD   For the C-terminal part a simple measure of secondary structure 
METHOD   compatibility hit a large number of globins. As T0053 is a 
METHOD   protein involved in the biosynthesis of cobalamin, which has a 
METHOD   rather hem-like structure it was deemed possible, that the C-terminal 
METHOD   part of the protein could be the cobalamin-binding domain and  
METHOD   show a fold similar to that of a globin. 
METHOD   However, using the program in a blind-prediction would have resulted 
METHOD   in a prediction that the fold is not yet present in the database.
